REC] 4: Apocalypse (2014)
*"REC 4: Apocalypse" (2014) is the final installment in the Spanish horror [REC] franchise, directed by Jaume Balagueró. The story follows Ángela Vidal, the journalist from the first two films, who is rescued from the infected apartment building. She is taken to a high-security oil tanker in the middle of the ocean, where a group of scientists and military personnel are studying the demonic virus that caused the outbreak. They believe Ángela may hold the key to stopping the infection, but they also suspect she might be carrying the virus herself.
As the crew attempts to contain the virus, chaos erupts when test subjects escape and begin spreading the infection throughout the ship. With no escape route, the survivors must fight against the monstrous creatures while uncovering the truth behind the experiment. Ángela, alongside a small group of uninfected crew members, struggles to survive as the situation spirals out of control.
Unlike the found-footage style of the first two films, [REC] 4 uses a more traditional cinematic approach, focusing on action and suspense rather than the documentary-style horror that defined the earlier entries. The setting on an isolated oil tanker adds a claustrophobic and intense atmosphere, heightening the sense of danger. The film incorporates brutal action sequences and fast-paced storytelling, making it a departure from the psychological terror of its predecessors.
